THE MEDICINE OF SPRING

Every year I grow more and more enamoured and fascinated by the expression of Spring. Boldly, miraculously transformative in its softness, as the energy shifts upwards again, defying the dense gravity of Winter.

It can be hard to recognize where we belong in this transient timeline. To define how our inner world feels in alignment with what is unravelling in the outer. 

Am I ready to burst open, like a flower? Or, am I awaiting and anticipating, in preparation?

Some trees, like the almonds, have blossomed early and have even offered their petals to the land. Others, like the pomegranate have just begun exposing their new leaves. Some trees, like the sensual fig, is barely starting to come out of its winter sleep.

I feel a lot like the fig these days. Somewhere between the pull of earth and the anticipation of a new beginning. 

A sense of rebirth is imminent. But it took time to get here. It took rest. It took clearing and re-centering. The daring life force that is needed for new leaves to form doesn’t occur unless the coast is clear to do so.
It can not be forced, only cultivated. 

It is no wonder that Spring is the season of Air. An element of change and new beginnings, but also an ally to clear space before it is our time to bloom. To make room, to decompress our inner landscape, moving away any unwanted debris that are in our way… so that we can move with ease, like the young seedling that are bursting out of the earth. That is the secret of this season, and its medicine.

I have been busy making space. Clearing clutter, to come back to my essence with clarity. My intention has been to create with a clear mind, as effortlessly as breathing. 

As playfully as the inner child that has been calling me to listen. Slowly, my young Persephone makes her way up again. I imagine her covering my skin with little flowers, like those of the blossoming mountains. 

Slowly, I too can emerge. I am here. In the process of becoming, all over again.
